Terms of Service

Acceptance

By using Mantle, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Mantle is operated by Could Be Anything, LLC.

The Service

Mantle is a climbing progress tracker that provides tools to log sessions, calculate ratings, track stats, compete in games, and connect with other climbers. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Your Account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure. Don't share your credentials. One account per person. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

Honest Logging

Mantle's rating system works because climbers log honestly. Don't fabricate sessions, inflate grades, manipulate the verification system, or create false vouches. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that compromise data integrity.

Supported Disciplines

Mantle currently supports Bouldering, Top Rope, and Lead climbing. Trad climbing is not supported at this time. Ratings are tracked independently per discipline.

Verification and Location

Mantle may use your device's location to verify that you are at a gym in our system. By using the location verification feature, you consent to Mantle accessing your device location at the time of session logging. Partner vouching is an additional verification method that does not require location access.

Social Features

Mantle includes social features such as leaderboards, friend groups, and a feed where you can share session updates. Other users can react to and comment on feed posts. By participating, you agree to interact respectfully. We reserve the right to remove content or restrict accounts that engage in harassment, spam, or abuse. Gym leaderboards are opt-in - you can control your visibility in app settings.

Games

Mantle offers multiplayer climbing games you can play with friends. Games involve turn-based climbing challenges at escalating grades. By joining a game, your display name, scores, and results are visible to other participants.

Gym Accounts

Gym operators may claim their gym on Mantle and access a management dashboard. Gym staff (owners, managers, and setters) can view aggregated analytics about climbing activity at their gym, such as active climber counts, retention rates, grade accuracy, peak hours, and rank distribution. Gym staff cannot see individual climber sessions or personal data - only aggregate statistics. Free tier gyms see basic stats; paid tiers (Pro and Enterprise) access more detailed analytics including retention, grade accuracy, and peak hours. Gym operators are responsible for how they use analytics data provided through Mantle.

Competitions

Competitions are organized by gym staff. By registering for a competition, your display name, scores, and rankings become publicly visible to all app users for the duration of and after the competition. You may receive push notifications about competition updates if you have notifications enabled.

Content

You retain ownership of your data. By using Mantle, you grant us a license to store, process, and display your climbing data as needed to provide the service, including on leaderboards, in social features visible to other users based on your privacy settings, and in aggregated, anonymized analytics provided to gym operators.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. Deletion includes a 30-day grace period. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms at our discretion.

Limitation of Liability

Mantle is not responsible for any injuries sustained while climbing. Climbing is an inherently dangerous activity. Ratings and ranks are for tracking purposes only and do not constitute advice on climbing ability or safety.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of Mantle after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will notify users of significant changes via the app or email.
