Privacy Policy

What We Collect

Mantle collects the minimum data needed to provide the service:

• Account information: email address, display name, username, bio, and profile photo
• Climbing data: session logs including grades, styles, disciplines, timestamps, and game participation
• Competition data: registration, scores, and rankings when you participate in gym competitions
• Device location: latitude and longitude at the time of session logging, used to verify you are at a gym in our system. This data is stored on the session record and could be used to infer where you climbed
• Verification data: partner vouch records, witness verification tokens (used when a climbing partner verifies your session via a shared link), and device fingerprints used to prevent abuse of the verification system
• Preferences: notification settings, theme preference, grade scale preferences, selected disciplines, and privacy level
• Device push tokens: for sending notifications
• Social data: friendships, friend groups, feed posts, reactions, and comments
• Gym data: home gym, favorite gyms, and gym membership associations
• Gym operator data: if you claim a gym, we collect your contact name, business email, and phone number as part of the claim request

How We Use It

Your data is used to calculate your climbing rating, track your progress and stats, display rank and achievement progression, enable partner verification and location-based gym verification, power leaderboards and social features, generate aggregated gym analytics, run competitions, and deliver notifications.

Gym Analytics

When you log climbing sessions at a gym, your activity contributes to aggregated, anonymized analytics that may be visible to that gym's staff. These analytics include metrics such as active climber counts, retention rates, grade accuracy, peak hours, rank distribution, and average session duration. Individual session data is never shared with gym staff - only aggregate statistics across all climbers at the gym. Analytics are only generated when a gym has a minimum number of active climbers to preserve anonymity. Gyms on paid tiers (Pro or Enterprise) may access more detailed aggregate analytics than gyms on the free tier.

Competitions

When you register for a competition, your display name, scores, and rankings become visible to all app users for the duration of and after the competition. You may also receive push notifications about competition updates if you have notifications enabled.

Leaderboard and Privacy Controls

Mantle provides controls over your data visibility. Gym leaderboards are opt-in - you choose whether your name and rank appear on leaderboards at your gym. You can also set your profile privacy level: public (visible to all users), friends (visible only to accepted friends), or private (visible only to you). Your privacy level controls who can see your ratings, stats, and achievements.

What We Don't Do

• No ads
• No selling data to third parties
• No tracking beyond what's needed for the app
• Your raw GPS coordinates are not shared with other users. When you log a session at a gym, the association between your activity and that gym is used to generate aggregate, anonymized analytics for gym operators

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. Rating history and session data are kept to maintain the integrity of the rating system.

Data Deletion and Export

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. When you request deletion, your account is marked for removal. After a 30-day grace period, all personal data including sessions, ratings, and social connections is permanently removed. You can request a copy of your data by emailing privacy@onmantle.app.

Third-Party Services

Mantle uses the following services to operate. These services process data as needed to provide their respective functions. No additional third-party analytics or advertising services are used.

• Supabase - data storage and authentication
• Sentry - error tracking and diagnostics
• Expo - push notification delivery
• Stripe - payment processing for gym subscriptions
• Cloud hosting and CDN providers - to serve the app and website
• Transactional email services - to deliver account and notification emails

Children's Privacy

Mantle is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it.
